COSDEP Launches ‘Flavourful Organics’ in Githunguri
GITHUNGURI, KENYA – September 30, 2025 marked a historic day for sustainable agriculture as the Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) officially launched COSDEP’s organic market outlet, Flavourful Organics, in Githunguri. This achievement culminates close to five years of dedicated planning by the organization to establish a trusted hub for the organic value chain.
The launch event was held under the inspiring theme, “Organically Produced, Locally Made,” highlighting the mission to connect local farmers directly with health-conscious consumers. The primary goal of Flavourful Organics is twofold: to attract the general public towards consuming organic produce for improved health, and to encourage farmers to adopt organic practices.
The outlet will serve as a critical resource center where farmers can source high-quality organic fertilizers and inputs to improve soil health and increase their harvests. Simultaneously, it will be the go-to destination where the local community and customers from afar can reliably purchase fresh, genuinely organic produce.
The event drew a diverse crowd of stakeholders committed to the organic movement. Attendees included representatives from PELUM Kenya, Impact Direct, YARD, ICE, EIPMA, OACK, and Greenworld. The government showed its support through participation from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade. External exhibitors, including Maalum Foods and Lynt, showcased their products alongside the dedicated organic farmers who will be the outlet’s primary producers.
Flavourful Organics is poised to become a cornerstone of sustainable development in Githunguri, linking empowered farmers with a community eager for healthy, locally sourced food.
