💧💧 ABERDARE WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME
📖📖 OVERVIEW
The Aberdare Watershed Management Programme is a 2-year consortium project being implemented in the Aberdares Conservation Area. The consortium, led by PELUM Kenya, works in partnership with SACDEP-Kenya, ICE, OACK, RODI-Kenya, and COSDEP.
The programme aims to create a favorable policy and legal environment in four counties to strengthen ecosystem resilience against climate change effects.
🎯🎯 OVERALL OBJECTIVE
Achieve sustainable resource use within the Aberdares Conservation Area through the development of a comprehensive policy framework for action.
🔍🔍 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Wetlands & Riparian Areas Conservation: Develop a policy framework for the protection and sustainable management of wetlands and riparian areas.
- Rural Roads & Storm Water Management: Create policies to address rural infrastructure and effective stormwater control.
- Invasive & Alien Species Management: Establish guidelines for the control and eradication of invasive species threatening the ecosystem.
- Quarrying & Mining Management: Formulate policies for responsible quarrying and mining practices to prevent environmental degradation.
